Major Changes to the Canada Customs Tariff – January 1, 2015

On January 1 2015, the General Preferential Tariff (GPT) will be withdrawn from the customs ACT.  That involves 72 Countries including China, India and Brazil

Importers who benefit from the lower GPT (Form A) rates of duty on goods imported from 72 developing countries are reminded that these rates of duty will be withdraw and replace by the higher Most Favored Nation (MFN)  rates of duty effective on January 1,  2015.   These changes will not apply to goods that were in transit to Canada before January 1, 2015
